There’s so many genres of music. You can literally find a song to fit any mood, celebrate any life event, help with your mental health, bring up memories, or just help you get things done. Music just feeds my soul in ways nothing else can and I’m here for it. I’m a music junky. My taste in music is literally all over the place.
There is nothing better than putting on your favorite playlist. Music you can sing and dance to while cleaning the house, running arrands, driving to work, or just to have noise. So many times music has saved me from myself. It has been my saving grace in the middle of a panic attack or extreme anxiety. My distraction from whatever was happening in life that felt too big to handle in that moment. My break from the stress of daily life. My we aren’t having a mental breakdown today distraction. It kept me alive, distracted me enough to get my head on straight, helped me clean, helped me study, and kept the silence at bay.
Music hasn’t always just been a distraction or a mental health saver. Sometimes it’s filled with memories. Memories of driving to the coast or pizza place with my step dad as Metallica filled the air with Fuel. Or jamming out with the windows down on our way home from the river with mom. Everyone’s hair blowing in the wind. Embarrassing school dances when I thought I could dance. No, no I couldn’t. Still can’t. I have no rhythm, but it won’t stop me. I’m a dancing fool. Music has so many memories songs carry with them.
Music just touches my soul in ways nothing and no one else can. It has the power to make me laugh, cry, relate, remind me of someone or something, dance, accomplish things, clean like a madman, calm my anger, be happy, and even make me angry. That’s the beautiful thing about music, it is always there for everything anytime you need it. It can make your day better. Make you laugh when you want to cry. Make you feel like someone understands. Send a message to someone without actually saying it. Music is a beautiful, powerful thing.
I’ve used music to get me through so much in life. Shoot I use it in my daily life just to get the energy to clean the house. Nothing makes me clean like music does. You can always find me jamming out while cleaning, driving, showering, running, basically doing anything. I will forever sing and dance because music sets my soul on fire. Do you have a favorite song? Put it in the comments so I can take a listen.
