This is a gift to one of the most amazing, gorgeous, talented, kindhearted, brilliant woman I’ve ever met. You see I met Ashlee back in 2007 when I started my first job. From the moment she walked into my life, I knew we would be best friends, I just didn’t know I had found my soulmate. The person I would spend the rest of my life sharing everything with.
Dear Ashlee,
From the moment I met you I knew we would be life long friends. We were just coworkers that honestly didn’t get along that great. We fought a lot, but it was out of love. You became my biggest reason to keep going to work every day. You were the reason I stayed at that job. You didn’t just accept me, but you also accepted my son without ever batting an eye. You loved him from the moment you met him and you still do. It’s beautiful.
We went from talking or texting everyday to losing contact for almost 7 years. When we found each other again it was like we never went a day without talking. We spent almost 4 hours on the phone that night catching up. I learned all about your kids and your life and you mine. So much had happened for the both of us. I wish we never lost contact so we could have celebrated so many big moments together. The truth is, I don’t think we would be who we are today if we didn’t though. It made our relationship stronger.
You came into my life when I didn’t have any friends because I didn’t trust them and you made me trust again. You once told me my very presence in your life is why you know you can make it through anything life throws at you. That stands true today. No matter what life throws at you, especially what you’re going through today, I am here. I will always be here. Your battles are my battles. We are in this together and we are going to come out of this together. Whatever you need, I’m here.
No distance will stop me from answering the phone any time day or night. No battle is an inconvenience or a burden on me. I love you with my whole heart and I will always be here when you need me. We will fight and fight and fight and keep fighting together. I will NEVER leave your side. Because of you I am stronger and I know the strength you have to keep going.
Thank you for not only being my best friend, but my reason to keep breathing. You taught me strength. You made me trust again. You showed me what a true friend is. You made me a better person and for that I am more grateful than you’ll ever know. You taught me some of life’s greatest lessons and stuck by my side no matter what. You always tell it like it is and stop me from making mistakes. You are my biggest supporter. You are always there for me when I need you. You are the most important person in my life.
Thank you for being you. Thank you for continuing to fight. Thank you for all the support, love, laughs, happy tears, sad tears, and everything in between. We survived the ups in life, the downs in life, and everything in between because we have each other. You are my soul mate and greatest accomplishment in life. No matter what I got you and I know you got me. Thank you for making me a better person and staying in my life even when it wasn’t easy.
We’ve talked about everything under the sun together. We’ve laughed until we cried. We’ve cried happy tears and sad tears. The so many memories we made together will always be in my heart. It never gets easier every time you come visit and go back home, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I would give anything to have you closer, but I know our relationship is stronger because we are apart.
You’ve loved me when I didn’t love myself. You’ve showed me why I should love myself. Even on the worst of days you’ve showed up and been the best person you can be and helped me be the best person I can be. You have a heart of gold, the determination to conquer anything, and a love so strong you can make anyone feel whole again.
You are strong. You are brave. You are talented. You are smart. You are beautiful. You are worthy. You deserve the world. Never let anyone dull your sparkle and make you feel less than. Never change for any. You deserve the world and I will do my best to give it to you. I love you more than you’ll ever know. All the memories made, all the tears cried, all the laughs had, everything is so worth it. If I could trade you places so you don’t have to go through what you’re going through, I would in a heartbeat.
