Hot Girl Summer

Let’s be honest, hot girl summer has who knows how many definitions. People interpret it however they want to and that’s great, but that also makes some women feel like they themselves can’t have a hot girl summer if they go off someone else’s definition. Hot girl summer is what you make of it.

Hot girl summer went viral in May 2019 thanks to Megan Thee Stallion and her mixtape release. Dictionary.com defines it as feeling confident in who you are and having fun and looking good while doing it. Of course there’s many, many different definitions out there and everyone interprets it however they want to. A trend I’m seeing is women saying it won’t be a hot girl summer for them because……(insert whatever reason you want). And I freaking hate it.

Here’s my take on it. Hot girl summer is what you make of it. It’s about being confident in who you are, what you wear, what you look like, and flaunting the shit out of that confidence. It’s about being 100% unapologetically yourself and living your best life. It’s about wearing the damn outfit no matter what your body looks like. It’s about loving the shit out of yourself and not being sorry about it. It’s about knowing what a badass you are and never forgetting it. It’s about being in charge of your own happiness and being your happiest self.

Plain and simple, hot girl summer is whatever you want it to be. You deserve to give yourself a damn hot girl summer. Wear whatever the eff you want and let NOTHING stop you. Eat all the foods. Drink all the drinks. Dance your heart out. Create your own happiness. Take that road trip. Remember what a badass you are and embrace all that is you and the beauty this world has to offer. Stop tearing yourself down and saying you can’t have nice things because of your body, looks, or something some troll says about you. You are a gorgeous, badass woman and you deserve a hot girl summer.
