October, the month where leaves start changing color and falling. Pumpkin spice everything hits the shelves. Horror movies play on TV. Spooky decorations are in stores and on houses. Spirit Halloween has popped up in all the closed businesses. Costumes are being made and bought. It’s a fantastic time of year.
I love most holidays. Christmas because presents of course, but the looks on my kids faces when they open their presents is hands down the best. Thanksgiving because nothing beats that meal and family getting together. Valentine’s Day because the world is full of love and everything is shades of pinks and reds. Pink is my favorite color. I could go on and on, but nothing beats spooky season.
Spooky season wins in my book. Nothing beats going to Spirit Halloween and stepping on the marker on the floor so that something pops out and scares the crap out of your kids. It’s my favorite things. This year my daughter got scared (nothing popped out) just walking through the store because of their clown display. She was holding my hand when she said nope and yeeted me backward. I have a love hate relationship with carving pumpkins. I love to carve them and let the kids pick their own design. My daughter gets grossed out and never finishes. This is where the hate part comes in. I end up carving multiple pumpkins. Anyone that’s ever carved a pumpkin knows what a pain in the butt it is. Kids always pick the hardest design.
I’m a real sucker for Halloween decorations, although we don’t usually decorate inside or outside our house. I have before, but it’s not something we think about until Halloween day. We usually just have our carved pumpkins out front. Horror movies are my favorite movies. I love them and I’ll watch them all. I love all the creativity with monsters, killers, traps, etc. The suspenseful music gets me every time. Probably because I scare easily. I got scared watching IT Part 2 and spilled popcorn on my mom. HA! It was great.
Costumes are hands down the best. There are so many costume options out there and people are so creative when they make their own. People are crazy talented with their makeup and costume making skills. I’m not creative enough or talented enough to make my own costumes. I’m like a child, I love to dress up for Halloween. It’s one of my favorite things to do with my kids. I don’t know how many more years I’ll get that opportunity as they continue to grow and get older.
I’ve never tried a pumpkin spice latte. Pumpkin spice isn’t my thing. I did try some pumpkin spice doughnuts once. They were pretty good. I love spooky season. I love all that it brings. Candy, costumes, pumpkins, cooler weather, changing leaves. Despite 2020 being a crap year, Halloween will not be taken from us. I can’t wait to start planning costumes and watching horror movies.
