New Me, Who Dis?

Holy 100th blog batman! I can’t believe I managed to write 100 blogs. Time to celebrate!!!

Growth is something that happens over time, not overnight. You will spend your whole life growing and changing into the best version of yourself. Sometimes that growth happens without you even noticing.

I was talking to my daughter yesterday. She was having trouble with distance learning and the new program the school is using this year. It’s so different than last years distance learning. The truth is we were both struggling. We took the training course together, but it didn’t make it any easier. Here’s what I told her:

“This is hard. Learning new things is hard. I don’t know what I’m doing and you don’t know what you’re doing. We get to learn together. THe great thing about learning something new is you get to learn new things and get better and better everyday. You’re a very smart and brilliant girl, I bet you can learn this in no time. We go this girl.”

I can’t believe the words that came out of my mouth. I said that. I taught my daughter that. Me, the me I barely recognize. The me I used to be even a few years ago would not have said that. She would have been frustrated and gave up leaving her daughter to fend for herself. (Not on purpose, but out of complete frustration.) That’s growth. That’s becoming the person I need to be and my kids need me to be. I love my growth. It made me patient and kind. It made me able to deal with things the old me couldn’t. It made me better.

Don’t resist the growth you are going through whether you realize that growth or not. Allow yourself to grow and be the best you you can be. You won’t regret it. And when you realize that growth, be proud of yourself. Growth isn’t always easy, but it’s so worth it.
