Why All Moms Need A Fanny Pack

Ah the fanny pack or as the British like to call it bum bag, is a lost treasure invented in the 1980s. A glorified purse with a belt strap to strap around your waist. What a sight that was to see. Sadly the fanny pack faded into the past in the 90s and early 00s. Not to worry, they’re making one hell of a comeback and all moms need one. No seriously you do. Why? Keep reading and I’ll tell you.

I know a lot of people want the ‘terrible’ fanny pack trend to die. They hate them, but fanny packs are making a comeback and are here to stay. Okay maybe not, but it’s worth a shot. Fanny packs are cute now, not the terrible neon colors they used to be. They are adorned with sequins, cartoon characters, flowers, and so much more. Not a fan of all that? Not to worry plain solid colors are available too. You can find them in pretty much every color ever. If you look hard enough, I guarantee you will find one you love.

Fanny packs are like smaller purses. Imagine instead of having to throw that heavy purse over your shoulder, you clip on your fanny pack like a boss. So much easier and your shoulder won’t hurt from all the extra weight. I don’t know about you, but my purse is packed with extra crap I don’t need. A fanny pack solves this problem too. Cash, debit/credit cards, license, phone, keys, and chapstick is all you need. Don’t worry about not finding your cash or cards, most have a convenient little pocket in the front for those. Mine even has slots for the cards.

Imagine all the places you hate taking your purse. Movies, restaurants, stores, etc. A fanny pack not only makes carrying the important stuff easier, but it makes going these places easier. No more finding a place for your purse – sharing the seat with it, hanging it from your chair, or shoving it under the table. No more buckling it into the shopping cart or worrying about leaving it at the movie theater. Just buckle up and go. Sure sneaking snacks into the movies is harder with a fanny pack, but where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Unlike purses, fanny packs are super versatile. You can buckle it around your waist in the front, back, or side. You can loosen the strap and crossbody it in the front or behind you. You can wear it any way you want to. And there’s so many different colors, patterns, and styles you can have a fanny pack to match every outfit. A whole closet full of fanny pack options instead of purses. How cool would that be? Totally kidding on the closet full of fanny packs, unless that’s your thing.

Having a diaper bag was the greatest. Leave the purse at home and just shove whatever you needed inside it. Now my kids are older and my purse is full of my crap and theirs. A fanny pack allows you to take what you need with you without carrying an extra bag (if you still have a diaper bag) and leaves your hands free to care for your kids. Imagine you’re at the park, zoo, mall, wherever you like to take your kids and you can do whatever you want because your fanny pack leaves you completely hands free. Plus you can put whatever you want in it – medications, bandaids, hair ties, chapstick, snacks, phone, money – the possibilities are endless. Whatever you need you have at your waist with one easy zip.

I will always stand by my statement – Every mom needs a fanny pack. Need a tissue? Fanny pack to the rescue. Less to pack around. Multiple designs, colors, patterns, and super versatile on how you wear it. Hands free to wrangle kids. Fanny packs are the minimalist purse option to only taking the essentials and leaving all the other unnecessary crap at home. Everything you need is a zip away. No more digging through the bottomless pit you call a purse. Go get yourself a fanny pack. I promise you will not regret it.
